Forrest Gump

Image
The opening credits of Forrest Gump follow one object on its path; a white feather. It goes through a city, through trees, buildings, and in the clouds it travels, then to a street and there is a closeup shot as it lands at Forrest Gump's feet while he's sitting on a bench. The credits are rolling through all of this. As the credits stop, he picks up the feather, showing his shoulders up, and places it in a book. The bus then pulls up... Instrumental music was playing the whole time, but as the feather comes to him, it slows and eventually stops.

Project choice: My decision

My project choice is a film. My idea for a film is about a stop motion artist who has a breakdown after losing his patience. The film fades in showing the claymation pieces and the artist playing and moving them. Eventually, he gets fed up and throws everything off the table, and screams. The screen goes black, and flashes the title:Motionless.

Project Selection-Film

Film production interests me because it is something that students my age rarely get experience in. To be able to create a film, you're able to share ideas that you thought you would never be able to do anything with. At least, at this age. Different kinds of camera shots and scene layouts interest me, because I have always wanted to be a film maker. I possess excessive knowledge of the subject, as well as  a different mindset or creative outlet, although I haven't had much experience with film making first hand. This project might be challenging due to my lack of experience. People my age have never tried to produce a film. I've made short videos before, but never a real film or something so professional. So, I can use this opportunity to gain experience.

Project Selection-Magazine

Print journalism might interest me because you can express your creativity through writing. As well as this, you can pick and choose what photos you want to add.  Being able to write articles about relevant topics, or even just ones that are interesting to you, is intriguing. I possess advanced literary skills, including vocabulary and figurative language in writing. So, the magazine project would be a good fit. Also, I am skilled at putting photos together in a creative way. I can make the cover for the magazine look very put together. I also enjoy photography, and have taken photography courses at Sarasota High. The challenges I would face is keeping all of the information organized, and put in the right place.
