CCR Project

Creative Critical Reflection 4

We integrated technologies because our film was based around stop motion. We used a Canon camera as a prop for a large portion of our film. As the film is based on the life of a film maker, nearly the whole project is related to technology. Technology is a very big part of day to day modern life. In our film, you can see that it is an especially big part of our character's day to day life. Without computers, cameras, and other pieces of technology, Smith's job wouldn't be able to be done. In this way, we portrayed the way that most people nowadays need technology to do their jobs.

Creative Critical Reflection 3

Our production skills developed throughout this project because we found as we worked that the more we thought out everything we did, the smoother the production ran. Writing a script before shooting, picking our location, and getting equipment before getting to our location helped us learn a lot about preparation. During the actual shooting of our film, we learned that the final product doesn't always come out exactly the way you want, or as fast as you want.  We figured out quickly that the time and effort we put in changed how our product would turn out.

Creative Critical Reflection 2

Our product engages with audiences by providing an emotional connection or ability to relate to the everyday struggles of the working man. When most people grow up, they typically work around 9-5 Monday through Friday, with not much time off. Seeing a film that's shows the stress of a job can promote provides a sort of comforting feeling for the audience. In our film the character undergoes stress until he finally has a breakdown. To distribute our film, we would release it in theaters, with trailers and teasers up to a year prior to the actual release. If it does well in theaters, we would then release DVD's and work on getting the film on Netflix.

Creative Critical Reflection 1

Our product represents a social group of the struggling artist. The working adult and the hardships they face are represented in a comical way. In our film, we intended to capture the reality of an artist's life, and giving a look behind the camera of the process that stop motion undergoes. The meaning behind our project goes deeper than the way that we represented it in , which was in a happy light. As well as this, it represents the large group of individuals that suffer from stress and anxiety. In the film you can see Silas Smith getting more and more frustrated as little things keep happening to him. By the end, he finally breaks in a fit of anger. Nearly everyone in the world suffers from anxiety, whether it be once in a blue moon or everyday of their life. Everyone sees the behind the scenes of actors in films, but never the people that actually create it and make the final product happen. We wanted to represent people in our film that have really never been thought about or...

Legally Blonde

Legally Blonde was released in theaters in 2001. After theaters, there were DVDs made. Later, it was was made into a  Broadway musical in 2007. Today, it's on Netflix, Amazon, and other streaming sites.

Distribution: A Cinderella Story

A Cinderella Story was released July 16, 2004 in theaters. Now, it's on Netflix and Amazon for people to stream whenever or wherever they wish. This is the same vision that we have for our film. We want it to be streaming soon after it leaves the theaters, but stay streaming and popular for years.

Distribution Research

Traditional distribution for films include movie theaters, televisions, on demand, and streaming programs such as Netflix. To distribute our product, we would attempt to show our film at local movie theaters. As well as this, try to put it on Netflix, Hulu, or another similar streaming program.

Marketing Plan

To market our film, we decided to make internet ads, tv commercials, and print ads. We chose internet ads because you can narrow down things such as the location, age, and interests to target. By creating internet ads, you can market different ones to people of different ages. We can also do the same using locations, for example, saying it's playing in a nearby theater. Tv commercials are a successful way to market for similar reasons.  The marketing method we're going to create is the print ad. This will be a poster of the main character, promoting the film.

Target Audience #3: Spiderman:Homecoming

Image
Spider-man: Homecoming was released in 2017, with a pg-13 rating. Although it reached mostly teens, marvel movies are usually loved by all ages. Another wide target audience brought the success of this film. As well as this, the overall appeal of a drama/comedy makes the target audience so wide. Being a Marvel movie, there is a feeling of nostalgia for adults who've seen old Marvel movies, as well as excitement in superhero movies for the younger part of the audience. Overall, Marvel is loved by almost all, so the target audience is wide. In our film, we're going to try to make the film appealing to all like in Spider-man: Homecoming. Lots of posters and billboards were everywhere near the time of this film's release. A lot were showing Spiderman around the city. Some posters had Robert Downery Jr., whom would help contribute to the sales of this movie, as he stared in Iron Man, and is a marvel "avenger".

Target Audience #2: Suicide Squad

Image
Suicide Squad blew up the box offices. With a rating of pg-13, it reached and appealed to nearly everyone. The film made over $746 million worldwide, an incredible amount. It was the 10th highest grossed film of 2016. They marketed the film with commercials, billboards, and phone ads that appear in everyone's daily lives. The target audience is 13 and up, so it reaches a very large audience. Almost everyone was raving about this film. Being able to reach people young to old makes the film's popularity soar. By incorporating aspects that make the film appealing for a large target audience like this, our film could greatly succeed. In this film, the actors Jared Leto and Margot Robbie helped to contribute sales, because of their popularity. When people see these celebrities are staring in a movie their fans will be inclined to watch. $75 million went to this film's campaign. Popular songs in the trailers like "Bohemian Rapsody" also helped to tie people in to seeing...

Target Audience Research #1: Crazy Rich Asians

Image
Crazy Rich Asians is drama/comedy released in 2018. Appealing to almost all ages, (rated pg-13), this film gained tons at the box office. The film made in all $238 million. As well as being intriguing to a wide range of ages, it's cast of Asian people gave the film power in the way Black Panther did. In our film, we wish to reach a wide variety of audiences in the way this movie did. The success of this film wasn't due only to the acting and production, but as well the way it appeals to many, so the audience is larger. The target audience being large means the sales will most likely be larger than if the target audience was only kids, or only older people. They had billboards and commercials made to promote this. The first poster ( seen below) is colorful and intriguing. Making posters and trailers visually appealing is something that will draw an audience in. Photos of this and clips from the movie were posted to social media platforms like Twitter and Instagram, to reel in th...

Revisions

To improve our film, we could work on steadying the camera in a few shots, instead of re-shooting all of the footage. Other than this, most of our difficulties were in the editing process. At some points, the music in the background cut off too soon or was too loud and drowned out the actor's dialogue. As well as this, we could trim some of the clips just to make the film run smoother.

Use of Convention

In our film Motionless, we used convention to show dramatization as well as humor. For example, in a shot which was a close up on the main character, Silas's eyes, it showed the tension of the moment. The film began as a drama, but as we filmed, turned more into a comedy. So, we used the actor's skills to portray the humor that was presented in the film. The film targets ages 13 and above, as it's a comedy enjoyable for teens, but adults can also enjoy the film. We used a variety of camera angles, like high, low, and eye-line match to show to provide the drama area of the film. Specifically, the eye-line match switches between Silas Smith and "Zeus" the dog. This gives a way to portray the anger and tension Silas has during this part of the film.
